Samsung is gearing up to unveil a revolutionary tri-fold smartphone at the upcoming APEC summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, this October 2025. This innovative device marks a bold step forward in foldable technology, expanding Samsung’s already strong portfolio of foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series.
Unlike traditional foldables, the new tri-fold design will feature three folding segments. When folded, the phone will have a 6.5-inch outer screen, perfect for everyday use. Once fully unfolded, it transforms into a 10-inch display, offering a tablet-like experience for productivity, gaming, and entertainment.
This design aims to bring greater flexibility to users who want both compactness and a large screen in one device.
The tri-fold phone is expected to include AI-driven features, including advanced support from Google’s Gemini AI, to enhance tasks like photo editing, content creation, and smart assistance. With AI becoming central to mobile experiences, Samsung is positioning this device as not just a hardware innovation but also a smarter, more adaptive tool for modern users.
Industry reports suggest the phone will be priced at over 3 million Korean won, roughly ₹1.89 lakh in India. Given its premium positioning, Samsung may release it in limited quantities, targeting high-income markets first.
The tri-fold smartphone received its official certification in August 2025, paving the way for its public debut later this year.
The global smartphone market has been facing slower growth, and Samsung is banking on this groundbreaking design to spark new consumer demand. With its unique form factor, large screen versatility, and integration of cutting-edge AI, the tri-fold could redefine what users expect from mobile devices in the coming years.
